| BBC Asian Network Celebrates Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan | ||||

The BBC Asian Network dedicates a day to celebrate the life and music of the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the man that bought Qawwali music to the world. On Thursday 8th October, you can hear recordings from the 'Remembering Nusrat' concert, featuring an exclusive collaboration between Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and the CBSO, recorded at Birmingham Symphony Hall. Rare performance recordings of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, have also been unearthed from the BBC archives, which will be played out during the day, plus Bobby Friction will be fusing classical Qawwali songs with electronic beats for a Friction show special. Highlights from the BBC Asian Network thoughout the day include: 8.00pm - Hindu Urdu Show - Sanjay Sharma looks back at the life of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, including an interview with his nephew and successor Rahat, plus rare concert recordings of Nusrat from the BBC archives. 10.00pm - Friction - Bobby Friction fuses, remixes and refixes Nusrats biggest hits, and other Qawwali tracks, with dance, electro and rock.
