The modern icon of British Asian music, Middleman, releases his much-awaited first single with VIP Records - ‘De De Gerah’, which features the vocals of Punjabi Rock Star, Juggy D and US singer/songwriter G Deep,is already being tipped as a Punjabi dance anthem and this year’s must have track.
Award winning producer and Radio personality, Middleman is no stranger to the British Asian Music industry. His musical talents combined with his creative abilities landed him a job at Club Asia Radio. Being a part of the pioneering team who officially launched the station, Middleman created the stations sound, which not only captured the hearts of thousands of British Asians across London, but also won him an award for his original and innovative sound.
In 2011, Middleman joined forces with Vipen Kumar of VIP Records. With a shared sense of musical vision and Vipen’s belief for his talents, Middleman decided to work with the label on this debut project - ‘De De Gerah’ is testament to this.
Vipen said: “Middleman has a great musical ability which he is able to evolve and adapt with new trends whilst retaining his originality. VIP are proud to be launching his first track with the label, ‘De De Gerah’ will definitely be THE track of 2013!”
Having worked with the industry’s finest, it was no surprise when Middleman was approached by Universal Records to provide a remix for Jay Sean’s hit track ‘2012’. After hearing the bootleg version being played on Radio 1, Universal approached Middleman to provide an official remix. The track made the playlist on Radio stations worldwide, giving Middleman international exposure.
Middleman’s talents are not just confined to the UK. He recently remixed a track for hit Bollywood movie ‘Tere Nal Love Hogeya’ staring Ritsh Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza. The soundtrack, released by India’s largest record label ‘Tips’, features Middleman’s remix of the title track ‘Pee Paa’ with vocals by popular Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanj. From his humble beginnings as a Club DJ, Radio producer and presenter, Middleman has a proven track record in the industry. He now works with the Music & Live Events team at the BBC Asian Network and is, rightfully, well respected amongst his peers. Talking about the new release, Middleman said: “Whilst producing the music, I wanted to give both Juggy D and G Deep a sound they hadn't worked with before. I looked for inspiration from what is currently dominating the international music scene. ‘De De Gerah’ combines an extensive mix of both House and Electronica whilst playing on the upbeat Punjabi Folk lyrics of the song.”
