Catching Up With DJ Jeevan

dj Jeevan

We sit down with DJ & Producer Jeevan to discuss his musical journey, the Bhangra scene, his inspirations and more!

Jeevan, it's a pleasure to have you here.

We've heard "Tera Naam," the new single release. Can you elaborate on that?

Tera Naam is a romantic love song which features the amazing vocals of Jassimran Singh Keer. We collaborated recently and organically created this project.

How was your experience collaborating with Jassimran Singh Keer on this particular track?

The experience of working with Jassimran was effortless. Our communication was happening around the clock. We completed majority of the song within one day and the finals were completed within a week. So overall great process and plenty more to come from us!

Can you shed some light on the circumstances that led to the involvement of The Music Junky in this project?

Well I’ve known The Music Junky for a long time but only recently we made the decision to begin our journey within the music world, we have had many conversations about projects but we originally went to the studio to start a different track.

Within the studio, The Music Junky unveiled a surprise for me which was “Tera Naam” and I instantly knew it was the right song for me.

Could you describe your musical style and personal identity as an artist?

Yes, my musical style I would say is a mixed fusion between, HipHop, R&B and Bhangra Music. My personal identity as an artist is an International wedding DJ, Music Producer & Remixer.

What drives your passion for music? Are there any specific musical influences that have shaped your artistry?

My passion for music came from a young age of around 3 or 4 years old. I had a big influence into music by becoming a Dhol player to then venturing into Djing and of course music production. I have a lot of musical influences growing up which is what has shaped my musical knowledge to allow me to perform worldwide.

How would you characterise your musical style? Are there any other genres you'd like to explore in the future? Which artists do you envision collaborating with?

I wouldn’t characterise my musical style. But all I can say is that I just want to release good quality music which allows listeners to enjoy. In terms of other genres, I do dabble in trying different fusions with different cultures to see if I can create something which sounds new and fresh.

Artists which I envision working with in the future, there’s too many to list hahahaha.

In your opinion, is it accurate to state that many emerging artists struggle to establish a distinct identity in their music?

I believe it takes a lot of time for artists to find their sound, it took me over 6 years to actually wanting to release a song. But along as your original I think you may have a chance to be appreciated for your music.

Keeping up with the latest music trends can be challenging. As an artist, what obstacles do you face, and how do you navigate them?

Well this is my debut single, I have faced many obstacles within my journey, but it is always good to stay a few steps ahead, and of course always try to stay relevant is always important. I released regular remixes via Soundcloud (Available via my profile DJJeevanMusic)

Before concluding this interview, is there anything you would like to convey to the esteemed readers of SimplyBhangra.com?
