More on Scan Records:
Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Scan, I have been around on the bhangra scene for a while now. I started my music career with the 90’s Super Group AJUBA for whom I played the Dholaks. After the split of the band I continued to pursue my love for music with artists such as ACHANAK and Harbhajan Talwar. Most recently I was elected to manage Master Rakesh after the phenomenal success of Kangana.
After many years in the industry I have now decided to go “all the way” and open up my own Record Label SCAN Records. The aim of this label is to find fresh talent and give them a fair chance to break into the Bhangra Industry.
The Debut release under the “SCAN Records" Label is of a new Artist named Ji-MADZ. “A true music producer with a unique sound”!! The album “An Artistic Approach” consists of 10 Mind Blowing Bhangra Tracks, Featuring the Lyrical Genius and Vocal Supremo Rai-Kalsi.
More on Ji-MADZ?
Who is he?
Ji-MADZ? (Jitty Madahar) born and raised in the heart of Handsworth, Birmingham.
When did all start?
His passion for music started at a young age where his experimentation with musical endeavours materialised. As many youngsters usually opt for traditionally typical percussion instruments, Ji-MADZ’ attention was drawn to somewhat of a rarity within young Asians; the BASS Guitar. A very close friend [Prem Nayer] encouraged and assisted him further. With his guidance and Ji-MADZ determination, he started to progress and initiate himself within the live circuit.
His break...
“Call it destiny”, but at that time a newly formed band, namely XLNC, were in search of a young, enthusiastic BASS player to funk up their live performance. Ji-MADZ was approached and auditioned for the vacancy amongst others, Guess what?? He got selected!! Ji-MADZ had stepped into the realms of live music. It was inevitable that BIG things were destined for him….
What happened next...?
After the phenomenal success of the highly acclaimed album “R U Ready”, XLNC became an overnight success, performing at exclusive venues throughout the UK. Not forgetting the touring to Canada, America and Europe on a continuous basis. XLNC was the 1st Bhangra band to perform Live in Tokyo Japan. The band went on to win many accolades, including Best Newcomers, Best Song, Best Band and Best Live Act on numerous occasions.
Other performances include:
New York, Central Parks, “SUMMERSTAGE 1994”

What else has been happening?
After years of gigging and touring, Ji-MADZ decided to fulfil one of his ambitions in life; attain a degree and take time out!! After successfully completing his BSc (Hons) Degree in Computer Science, he decided to venture back to his true love; MUSIC.
Ji-MADZ the ‘Jammin-Jamma’ gained a reputation for his ground-shaking bass lines that thumped through your body leaving a musical mark on your soul. The amplification of his heartbeat through the means of the Bass had been recognised by many others which enabled him to perform with the likes of Malkit Singh, Manmohan Waris, Late Surjit Bindrakhia, Jazzy B, DCS, Harbhajan Talwar just to name a few!!
“Feel what you play, Play what you feel” [Ji-Madz]
The unexpected...
Ji-MADZ experienced a life changing incident, which transformed everything overnight. His life had flipped a whole 180 degrees. At this time of gloom, it was his MUSICAL companion that gave him a ray of light and hope.
He had been granted another chance at life and it became apparent to him which direction he wanted his life to go. To fulfil this journey, he started to enhance his already developed musical knowledge by his persistence in practice, determination to succeed and very hard work.
Already a successful bass player, Ji-MADZ started to study keyboards alongside the acoustic guitar. He also familiarised himself with the more traditional Tumbi, Mandolin and Waja as he felt this is fundamental in order to become a music producer.
The Future...
“Music is the fuel for the soul, a never ending journey. It is a universal language. Everyday I learn something new” [Ji-Madz]
With the guidance of Prem Nayer once again!!, Ji-MADZ ventured into the realms of music production, which included learning the relevant computer software in order to record as well as creating a new sound in music: “My Own Sound”. This resulted in the production of his debut album “An Artistic Approach”...
“My aim as a music producer is to touch my listener’s hearts” [Ji-Madz]
