Mummyji Needs You!

Rifco Arts and Watford Palace Theatre bring you Mummyji Presents …. Four unique comedy episodes will be shown on the new pop up channel ‘The Space’ a new collaboration with the BBC on the interactive red button service and The Arts Council of England.

This will be aired during the Olympic period, culminating in a full length live streaming of Mummyji’s live show at Watford Palace Theatre on 11th October 2012.

Each pilot episode will feature four (4) new and emerging British Asian acts, giving new talent a unique platform. Rifco Arts will be holding audition days across the UK to find the emerging and new talent of all ages!

Gracing the silver screen in such Bollywood Classics as an extra in Don, a backing dancer in Yes Boss, and a pub guest in EastEnders to name but a few. Mummyji has had her fifteen seconds of fame and now is on a nationwide search for new talent. Her search begins for singers, rappers, dancers, poets ... even ventriloquists! At the end of each episode the audience will vote for their favourite act using the interactive service, the 4 winners of which will feature in the Mummyji’s live show!

Written and directed by Pravesh Kumar of Rifco Arts, who brought you hit shows such as The Deranged Marriage, and the groundbreaking award winning musical Britain’s Got Bhangra

The show stars Rifco Arts audience favourite Rina Fatania as Mummyji (The Deranged Marriage and Britian’s got Bhangra) who will present the show from her very own living room in Slough! Mummyji is so excited, she has been preparing for weeks, she's called over the community Aunties and the milky sugary tea is on the simmer! Mummyji is doing the final polish on the collection of accolades which decorate the room, from a self portrait of being Mayor of Slough 2008 to a certificate in City n Guilds in cooking and needlework; and the family picture at Blackpool tower stands next to a king-sized portrait of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan which is blessed every morning!

Sumeet Chopra the composer, has written music for and collaborated with many Bhangra artists such as Talvin Singh, Panjabi Hit Squad and The Dhol Foundation and Bollywood playback singers Alka Yagnik and Shankar Mahadevan.

Asham Kamboj who has a wealth of experience in producing feature films and short film is looking after the video production side. He is also teaming up with Pravesh Kumar to make the film versions of number of Pravesh’s stage plays.
