Shweta Subramanian defeated over 200 talented contestants from US and Canada to win the title of Best Singer in North America by Sangam Kala Group (a prestigious organization which discovered Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Shreya Ghosal).

Through this victory, Shweta was flown to India where she performed for various shows with the biggest names in Bollywood including Atif Aslam, Sukhbir, Ruby Bhatia, Sukhbir, Abhijit Sawant, Baba Sehgal, Alexx & Shweta, Aamir Ali & Sanjeeda, and other celebrities.

Throughout her stay in India, Shweta was featured in shows on various stations including Zoom TV, B4U Music, NDTV Goodtimes, Star Plus, and Sahara One.  She performed for an episode of Star Plus Voice of India following which she was selected as a band-member for Sunsilk Gang of Girls which was featured on Zoom TV for 13 weeks.  Shweta toured India with the gang, performing at various events and concerts.

After returning to Canada in 2008, Shweta has given major performances in Canada and the Carribean, including a Canadian tour with Alka Yagnik.

Shweta in Studios:

Shweta has sung for soundtracks of three North American productions: Perfect Mismatch starring Boman Irani and Nandana Sen, Red Light Bhangra, and I Do Do I.  In addition, Shweta is also working on her debut album, which will be released in 2010.

Training:

Shweta’s training includes over 10 years in formal Carnatic and Hindustani music under renowned gurujis from India including Sunil Paogankar, and Padma Wadekar (wife of Sunil Wadekar).  In addition, Shweta spends countless hours in riyaaz to continually enhance her vocal capabilities.

Producer & Radio Jockey:

Shweta is also a Producer & Radio Jockey for HumDesi Radio (largest South Asian radio station in North America which is broadcasted across New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Jose, and can be accessed online at www.humdesiradio.com).  Shweta is live on air for the Drive Home Show, broadcasted daily from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
