Duawan is a lush, beautiful acoustic-melancholy track, with a pulsating electric guitar in the back featuring the vocals of Kamal Singh, produced by Epic Bhangra!
USA has a budding bhangra music scene and a lot of hidden talent that pops up on various social media outlets like instagram without ever getting much attention.
Kamal Singh is one of those acts, a Staten Island NY resident, who uploads 15 second cover versions of classic punjabi songs, once he's done with his day job. He finally caught the attention of the NY based music producer Epic Bhangra ("Bullet", "Gal Sun", "Mukhada") and with that they are about to release Kamal's first single "Duawan" (Translation: Prayers).
Kamal Singh's voice is pure and soulful. His singing style is strikingly reminiscent of the current Bollywood sensation Arijit Singh but with a touch of punjabi folk to it.
Duawan is a lush, beautiful acoustic-melancholy track, with a pulsating electric guitar in the back. The song originally meant to be a love song, creeps into the territory of heartbreak as Kamal sings about a girl being the only reason he's alive. Gagan Amrit, the lyricist, gives a glimpse into the raw, unfiltered emotion of someone madly and almost irrationally in love.
The song is set to drop on Sept 25th as a free download. In the meantime, check out the promo...
