Harleen Singh ft. Tru Skool - Vaada

Check out the promo to the upcoming single 'Vaada' by Harleen Singh which is a collaboration with producer Tru Skool and read what she had to say exclusively to us about her trip to the UK and working with him!

Harleen is a singer, composer, and lyricist based out of California who has taken her first steps as an upcoming vocalist in the Punjabi music industry. Harleen's interests in music rooted from singing classical shabad-kirtan starting at the age of 6 and eventually grew to encompass Punjabi music with her growing interest in Bhangra.

With her debut single “Leja Kite Door” on Kalikwest Connected Volume 1, and her now recent collaboration with producer Tru Skool, Harleen is hoping to help put California on the map in the industry. Tru Skool and Harleen look to infuse their folk and melodic sounds in an EP releasing in the near future via VIP Records.

Harleen quotes;

"Early in October Tru Skool and I decided to meet in his hometown, Derby, in efforts towards our upcoming EP release, which we are both excited for. We had planned this trip for a while and I spent months composing melodies and writing and editing lyrics in preparation for spending a full week solely dedicated to working on our project.

I'm genuinely happy and appreciative while saying every ounce of the time and effort that went into preparing for our grand week was worth it.

Sukh (Tru Skool) and I spent much of our time discussing our thoughts on the Punjabi Music Industry today and our vision of our styles meshing together for the future. One great thing about our collaboration is our team work and ability to respect each other's creative vision and input throughout the process. Our communication was open and brutally honest, but always constructive. Apart from Sukh's uncanny talent in infusing true Hip Hop elements with authentic folk sounds, our communications and team work is one of the core reasons why I personally enjoy Sukh's company and am glad to be working with him.

Towards the end of the trip we had the chance to make our way over to the BritAsia TV Music Awards in Birmingham to support Kaos Productions in their various nominations. Performances by artists Jazzy B and Manmohan Warris were enjoyable and uplifting. Jay Status and DJ Sanj rocked the stage with their performance as well.

I can confidently state that my trip to the UK was time well spent and gave me great insight on the Punjabi Music Industry as an upcoming artist. I look forward to being a part of this platform and know that I have just experienced a week in my life that I will never forget. I hope that any fans out there stay tuned for this EP, it's a collaboration that I'm extremely excited for."
