With a new album in the works and more Bollywood offers, Nindy Kaur is showing everyone where hard word, dedication, and passion can truly take you in life! SimplyBhangra.com caught up with Nindy Kaur for an exclusive interview to find out all about her latest single, worldwide success and what's coming up.
Q: Nindy, you've come a long way as an artist. You made your debut in Bollywood with Aloo Chaat and now you've recently released your debut single & music video! That's quite a feet for an artist to complete in a short period of time. How does this make you feel? A: It really does feel as if time has passed in a blink of an eye. I remember being in the studio with the boys, working on Aloo Chaat and now I am in the studio working on my debut single and solo album. It's a lot to do in a short period of time but I've got the most amazing set of people around me, making sure that things happen as per timelines and that the quality of the music we're working on is just as great, if not better, than what we've released in the past. It's the perfect track I could have done for my first release. And with the success of it being so well and everyone enjoying it as much as they do, it's already set the bar for the rest of my songs. So I have a standard to live up to for my fans and the industry and with time I can only show people that there's a lot to Nindy Kaur that you still haven't heard or seen! Watch the Video below.
A: They are expected to hear something that they've never heard before. The album is going to be fabulous, amazing, superb...there aren't enough adjectives to describe it! Simply put, it's going to be SOLID. There's a combination of music styles on there, some that people would never even hear together! I want to show people that we're still true to the RDB sound & style of Bhangra and Punjabi, but it's with a female kick and flavour! Listeners get your iPods ready because this is going to blow your ears away! A: No. As the title says, I'm just trying to show to everyone that I am Nindy Kaur and I am independent. I make music the way I enjoy it most and how I know that my fans will enjoy it the most. It's as simple as that. A: Pips, he's our road manager. He's also Manj's best friend for the last 30 years and he’s def. like a best mate to me too.
Q: There are a lot of other female singers in the music industry. Do you ever feel that there's tension or negativity between yourself and the other female artists? Is there a sort of "competition feeling" amongst the female artists? What sets you apart from the rest? A: I feel there shouldn't be as we all have different styles but I'm sure there is; and I'm not too fussed...but like to continue to be successful and progress. I'm not one to get tangled in or pay attention to this stuff. A: I feel that the best part of being in a music group which is comprised of family is that you know you can trust everyone. Manj, Kuly and Surj have spent their lives together, so you can never think, "Oh no, someone is going to turn their back on me." We all have a noted level of respect, trust and compassion towards one another, so things can never get sour. If something were to upset one of the other members, we're close to each other that we can openly speak about it and not keep anything bottled up inside of us. I'm not sure how we'd approach difficulties and/or challenges because honestly there really haven't been any. As any music group, we can have our fair share of up's and down's, but as I said, we're all mature enough to talk it out and move past things. At the end of the day, it's as you said, we're family and that's the most important thing about this group. We love and respect one another :o) A: Motherhood a career?! Whoever thinks that is crazy! Motherhood is a blessing and unless you get to feel and live it everyday, people won't understand that. I'm beyond blessed to have Anoop in my life. And though he might not always be on tour with us or at every show, he's the first person I talk to in the morning and the last person I say good-night too. He's the "apple of my eye," as the saying goes! Yes...that was a little cheesy, but it's the truth. I can never compare the roles of being an artist and a mother. Because at the end, I would pick motherhood over anything. It's not something you can always experience and if you miss out on the best of years, you'll never know what you had. The only thing about being an artist and a Mom at the same time is being apart from my son. But that's where the RDB team as a whole comes in. If we have three days between gigs, they don't have to think twice when I say, "Hey, I'm booking a ticket to go home." They are all for it. They always have been and they always will be. And being a wife and having your husband work side-by-side to you is a great feeling as well. Not everyone can say that they get to work on a daily basis with their husband.
A: I'm working on some Bollywood projects which you will all come to know of shortly! Of course, my album, NINDYPENDENT, is getting the final touches placed on them. There's still some more things I'd like to do with it until we release it, so let's see how that works out! And I'm also working on some items for RDB's forthcoming release, WORLDWIDE. And of course, we have our worldwide (no pun intended) tours that we're always doing. We just got back from Gujarat and Dubai! The shows were crazy! And I also have my own clothing line which is going to be coming out soon! A: Believe in yourself and your skills. If you have a voice then show it off to people; it's the only way they are going to know what talent you have within yourself. If you don't believe in yourself nobody will. And be determined. If you want to sing then sing your heart out. A: Firstly, I'd like to thank SimplyBhangra.com for all your ongoing support. And of course without my fans, I would not be here. Just a week or so ago, I posted something on my Facebook fanpage for my fans to tell me their favourite moments about meeting me and it was so sweet to just read what they were posting. A lot of them go through a lot to meet us at gigs, and it really shows their dedication towards us. Without them my video wouldn't do well, my music wouldn't sell...it's always the fans whom make the artists who they are. So I thank you for my success and hope you continue to support me on my future projects as you have in the past! Love you all! And yes...please check out my fanpage and become a fan (http://www.facebook.com/NindyKaurRDB) and follow me if you're on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/NindyKaur). I promise I'll try to reply back as soon as I can! Love to all! Thank you for the support!! Share
