Director Priyadarshan is back with yet another comedy caper titled Khatta Meetha. Featuring his favourite actor Akshay Kumar and Southern hottie Trisha Krishnan in lead roles, the film is a remake of Priyadarshan's 1988 Malayalam film Vellanakalude Naadu. Khatta Meetha marks the debut of Trisha in Bollywood.
A satirical comedy drama film, Khatta Meeta revolves around road mafia and corruption in the construction business. Akshay Kumar plays a road contractor named Sachin Tichkule who is facing a tough time in his job. Trisha plays his college time love interest with whom he broke up and now a PWD Officer. The story also deals with the notorious murder of Bihar PWD engineer Yogendra Pandey in 2009. Makrand Deshpande plays the murdered engineer and Akshay plays his colleague who uncovers the mystery behind his death.
Khatta Meetha has music scored by Pritam. V.Manikandan has handled the camera and art is by Sabu Cyril.
Distributed by Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd, Khatta Meetha is scheduled for release on July 23, 2010.
