Artist : Sunidhi Chauhan,

Her singing voice to a procession of hit movies: Jis Des Mein Ganga Rehta Hai, Fiza, Mission Kashmir, Yaadein, Ajnabee, Indian, Asoka.  So what was left to achieve? Her maiden pop album — that's what. Called simply Sunidhi C., it featured the music of Lalit Sen in some rare melodious tracks.

The "aandhi" has struck again this month: Universal Music has just released Sunidhi's second pop album: Pehla Nasha (cassette: Rs. 65). Once more, Lalit tunes 10 songs which Sunidhi renders in her distinctive style. But this time around, she displays her singing abilities in a variety of moods.

The track, "Bol Deewane Bol" has got an energetic feel to it, with earthy instruments like the tabla, along with a strong bass.

"Maine Yeh Socha Hai" is on similar lines; while the sole "Hinglish" track of the album.

I know what you want, conjures up a hip college dudette doing her bit of "pataooing".

"Mehboob Mere" and "Ruki Ruki" songs which Sunidhi has been known for, many of us tended to think that she was one of those "jumpy" ones.

"Kyon Mein Na Janu" and you will be hooked on to the slow and haunting pace of this romantic number.

The "numero uno" number is the title track, which has a mellow romantic feel to it, with some "bindaas" background accomplishments happening.

So, this is our very own "desi" Madonna and going by this album, she's here to stay, for a long while to come.

Sunidhi Chauhan has been exercising her vocal chords from age five, and professionally before she was 10. At 13, she had bagged the Lata Mangeshkar Award, and the Filmfare R.D. Burman Award for most promising newcomer in 2000, at the ripe old age of 17.

Good Luck to her from all of us here.
