According to Mink Brar, it is a psychological thriller, and is being directed by Sanjay Khanna. She adds 'Kathputli' is a story of Lisa Oberoi (played by herself) who is a married woman and the owner of a big hospital, but she loses her memory. Arjun Oberoi (Milind Soman) who is a well - known surgeon and Lisa's husband, tries his best to get back her memory.   Yukta Mookhey is playing the character of Anju who is the neighbor of Lisa. She also tries her level best to revive Lisa's lost memory and her past life.

The movie was shot in 45 days on the various locations of Mumbai, Hyderabad and Goa.
