Mona - the ‘Princess of Bhangra’ has never looked backed since the release of her first album. With 3 successful albums under her belt each release has enhanced her reputation and status across the globe. Not everyone knows this, but Mona is the daughter of the legendary Channi Singh – lead singer of Alaap – ‘Pioneers of Bhangra’.

November 2010 sees the release of a new EP, featuring tracks from both father and daughter. “Saadi Marzi” is the brand new song from Mona, alongside famous Bollywood singer Labh Janjua (of “Mundeyaan To Bach Ke” and “Sohni De Nakhre” fame). Renowned producers Tigerstyle have also given their magic touch to a remix version of the track. Channi’s all time greatest classic hit “Bhabiye Ni Bhabiye” is the second single to feature on the EP, which has been revamped and brought to life with newer, fresher, more modern sounds.

“It’s a dream come true for me to be releasing an EP alongside my father – he is an absolute legend”, explains Mona. “They don’t get much bigger than him and I am nervously excited about the release”.

Channi is brimming with pride and why wouldn’t he be, “this is the coming of age for Mona”, he announces, “I feel now that she has matured as an artiste and I am extremely proud of her work”.

Both Channi and Mona are working on their new albums which should be ready for the end of the year. In the meantime the EP “Saadi Marzi / Bhabiye Ni Bhabiye 2010” gives you a taste of what to expect.

Released under their own label Sargam Productions, “Saadi Marzi / Bhabiye Ni Bhabiye 2010” will be available in all major stores from 4th November.  It will also be available for download on iTunes. Videos of both singles will be on air in the coming few weeks. Both Channi and Mona will be appearing at stores up and down the country for their album signing tour in November and December, so watch out for the dates!
